OSW is FINITO!!

One skein wonder.... all done.
I used Cotton ease for this wonder. I'm anxious to try it with other yarns. My daughter, who didn't want her face shown today, has put in an order for more in other colors. I have some yarn 100% mercerized Egyptian cotton in a gorgeous pink. I plan on swatching it after I finish tempting. This was as everyone in blog land has said, a very fun quick knit. Now a question re: blocking. Do you have to block cotton/acrylic?? I did wet it, stretch it, and it's pinned to my wonderful Joanne's blocking board. I'm hoping it will help the back neckline to lie flat

Another proud moment, but first I must go back 3 months:
Me, sitting on the couch trying to learn how to cast on:
DD#3.MOM!! what are you doing. Knitting is for old people. Me,(Thinking to self) I'm not OLD...
Flashback 2 months ago: DD#3: MOM!! how much yarn are you going to buy??? Me:: (IGNORING such a dumb question.)
Flash back last weekend: DD#3 :Mom, I can't believe we're going to stop at a yarn store on the way to my soccer tournament. Me: Well....... it's on the way...( only 5 miles out of the way)

Flashback 2 days ago approx 8pm: DD#3 Mom, can you teach me how to knit and crochet.... Me: ok just review this cd (crochet made easy and Knitting made easy) and then I'll work with you.

Next morning:
Mom I'm obsessed!!!!! Now I understand, I stayed up late crocheting this scarf. Can we go to the yarn shop this weekend so you can buy me supplies??
Me: Supplies?? what supplies, I have all the supplies you need, (thinking to self, I hope she doesn't take my good yarn)
DD#3: I need my own supplies, I Need a bag to hold my supplies and good yarn..
Me: What have I done......

And here she is... Scarf almost finished

I'm so proud ....Graduation Day

Drying: I may run this through the wash again. On the picture I can see the stiches well, in person it looks more felted... Hmmm I'll decide in the morning once it's dry.
Finished! On it's way to the washing machine
Button hole bag 1/2 done
Next projects: Here's some lamb's pride bulky wt in beige and burgandy. These are for a buttonhole bag. The luscious blue is for tempting. The bag is a project bag I bought from Michaels. Not only am I obsessed with yarn and stashing, but I've become obsessed with buying bags to carry various projects. This is the 5th or 6th bag I've bought since March. I'll gather them up and post pictures on the weekend

Stick a fork in her, she's done

Another view
(Cascade 220 started 5/30, completed 6/3)

Next time I'll measure it pre and post felting, it's hard to remember how big it was pre-felting. I think next time, I'll let it go through the wash another time as well. You can still distinguish some of the knitting on the bottom, but I'm happy with it. It's great for my beginner mind to start and complete a project and to like the results.
Next: I've started a button hole bag, and I finally bought the yarn for tempting. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

After felting

Sophie!!

Here's Sophie
I finished Friday night, here she is pre felting. I was very nervous with the whole felting process. I was afraid I'd felt it to much and ruin it, so I put it in the wash with 3 large beach towels, and ran the was for 15 min. I wasn't sure if it could go through the wash spin cycle, so I took it out let the towels spin, and put it back in the rinse. I wrung the water out by hand, put a book in the bottom to shape it and added towels and plastic bags. Next....the finished results.

More completed projects

Here are pictures of two completed projects/ The first reflects my first attempt at ribbing and seaming. The seamed edge is not perfect...but my son likes and wears it. I'll make more for winter. the second picture is from a hand bag kit. This was my first project in the round on circular needles. I originally made it for me, however my daughter is trying to steal it. I'm currently working on a sophie purse for her. I should be finished tomorrow and I'll felt it on Friday.
I plan to increase my ever growing stash on Sat. I am going to the Yarn by the bag sell at Yarn lady in Laguna. I'm looking for some debbie bliss casmerino aran for tempting. Wish me luck.
